Drill Dojo Doodles

creativity, INSPIRATION, innovation, and Where Do Ideas Come From Part 5

This week’s entry has to be short. Short? Why? Well, I’m currently slogging through designing 10 high school shows. As I’m writing this, 6 openers are completed (one of which is awaiting approval from the client) and I have 3 more to finish in the next 48 hours or so. That’s why.

I have one show in particular that is giving me fits even to start. So today I turned to YouTube for help. I decided to dial up a show I felt was in some ways similar in thematic material. Both deal with ancient civilizations. Let me present the 1991 Star of Indiana. Design by George Zingali. If you aren’t familiar with George’s work, look for 27th Lancers of the late 70s, Cadets of the 80s, and Star of the early 90s. HE WAS AMAZING. A true innovator in the field of visual design. After watching some video today, I have crowned him the King of the Pass Through. No really. He was. So today, I’m viewing the video below to get the creative juices flowing. I will succeed. —DB
