After teaching the use of Pyware as part of a drill design class for music majors at the University of Nebraska for several years, I found the materials provided by Pyware to learn the software were just too overwhelming for the class timeline. I decided I would put together my own tutorial that could eliminate some of the clutter and expanse so students could manage learning the software gaining confidence while producing an actual animated 13 set design. There is built-in repetition to strengthen retention. The tutorial also takes a little time to cover basic design concepts. After using this tutorial several years with undergraduate and graduate students, updating, and editing I am now offering it to the public.
This video series workshop is intended for individuals who have little to no experience with the drill design software Pyware. The content is presented in a self-paced format. It is expected that participants have access to the Pyware software. Those who teach marching band methods including drill writing at the university level may be interested in making the tutorial available for their students. I’m currently working with Central Baptist College and their methods course. Cost is $125 per student with discounts for 6 or more registrations. The registrations may be paid by individuals or by your institution. Contact me for details.
Although Pyware has its own tutorial, it doesn’t tie everything together into a functioning visual design complete with music the way the Drill Dojo Tutorial does. Once completed, the participant will have a 13 set design synced with music while exploring the most popular features of the software. The intent being any participant will emerge with a basic understanding of both the software and design concepts. Each participant will receive an illustrated pdf copy of the tutorial to accompany the video series.
Cost = $125 US (There is a 3.49% service fee if paying via PayPal or 3% Venmo). Registration may also be paid thru Facebook Messenger with no service fee. Here is a highlight video containing material from the actual Pyware Tutorial. Drill Dojo Pyware Tutorial Highlights.
Scheduling for the Drill Dojo Pyware Tutorial is flexible and can be set to meet the demands of participants. There is a 1 hour wrap-up session via zoom at the conclusion of the Tutorial (scheduled at participants’ convenience). This wrap-up can either be with a group of participants or one on one.
